CMDC to Join Local Chambers in Support of HJR 14
On Thursday, March 28th the Columbia Chamber of Commerce hosted a discussion with State Rep. Chris Kelly that included representatives of the Callaway, Jefferson City and Columbia chambers of commerce, in addition to economic developers from all three areas. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the local impact of HJR14. The bonds, if approved, would mean more than $500 million in construction projects for Boone, Callaway and Cole counties. Rep. Kelly has asked that we help get the bill passed and set for the state-wide ballot in 2013.
We are encouraging CMDC members to join the chambers’ efforts and to participate in contacting the members of the Legislature with whom they have influence. The Columbia Chamber is currently working on dates for members of our community to meet with members of the Legislature regarding HJR 14. We will keep you updated on the progress of this bill.
