Benefits of Membership
If you haven't joined CMDC yet, it's the perfect time to do so! Membership provides businesses with a way to stay informed in Columbia's growing development community.
"Being a member is beneficial as it provides the development community a spokesperson at council and planning and zoning meetings," said John States of Little Dixie Construction. "Membership is also advantageous during times of conflict. We've been fortunate enough to have CMDC on our side during several occasions and they've been able to stop issues from escalating into larger problems."
Membership also brings the added benefit of bimonthly membership meetings, quarterly newsletters and a Web site to help individuals keep up-to-date.
Thanks to annual membership fees, the Central Missouri Development Council is able to maintain an active role in the community through local candidate sponsorship, supporting community initiatives, advertising and the Web site.
Membership Fees and Levels
Membership fees make it possible for CMDC to get involved in the community, from supporting local candidates and initiatives, like Discovery Ridge, to enabling advertising and the Web site.
The fees run on a sliding scale based on the membership level. Charter membership, which is a voting membership, is $3,000 annually. An associate non-voting membership is $1,000 annually, and a junior associate non-voting membership is $500 annually. Individuals or businesses can join at any level. CMDC is also instituting a membership-for-membership arrangement with the Board of Realtors® and the Builders Association.
Membership is not limited to those directly involved in the development business. In fact, CMDC’s membership includes not only builders, contractors, developers and subcontractors, but also bankers, marketing professionals, Realtors®, suppliers and insurance agents.
* While we remain optimistic about our economic future, the CMDC board of directors felt it was important to recognize the difficult economic period while encouraging members to continue their participation in CMDC. Therefore, we have moved the membership renewal date to July 1, 2009 instead of Jan. 1. This will give our members a 6-month hiatus from paying the dues while remaining active in the organization. Please contact us with any questions you may have.*
